3/9/2018 0 Comments March 09th, 2018 Today I for some weird reason felt like doing a blog on some grotesque form of art. This was the tamest picture I could find while still remaining "school friendly." I find it unique how due to the lack of context with this picture, the viewer could make a number of interpretations toward it. One could take it at face value and assume it's literally portraying a monster about to eat a lone girl, while others could argue that it's a portrayal of what a mental illness may look like in the eyes of that person, whether it be depression, schizophrenia, or more. Either way, the author did a great job at evoking feelings of uneasiness with this picture.
3/9/2018 0 Comments March 7, 2018 Today, there have been constant mentions of the dangers of smoking, so I decided to talk about an artwork that pertains to that topic. For starters, I like the simpleness of the picture. Only two colors are used, with the two subjects being the main focus.
3/6/2018 0 Comments March 06th, 2018 The artist of the week is Beniedicto Cabrera, an artist with a Filipino heritage. Upon viewing more of his artworks, you can see that his paintings have a lot of resemblance to his heritage and culture. This in itself is a good example of how his style is defined. It defines who he is as a person, which in turn hold an influence in the results of his paintings.
