11/27/2017 0 Comments November 27th, 2017 This week's artist is Steve Kelly. As seen with this particular artwork, Kelly mainly deals in political cartoon for his work. As such, most of his works aim to criticize, or satirize, a particular flaw in society or politics. The way he makes his art is very bland, which can be explained due to it not being the main aspect of it. The main focus is toward the dialog, as well as the hidden meanings behind them.

11/16/2017 0 Comments November 16th, 2017 Straying a bit from the painting style, here we have a picture. Despite it being made on a photo editing website, this looks like something that can be featured in a postcard. I chose this picture because of the composition between the pumpkins as well as the typography. It really suits the style that the picture follows.
11/16/2017 0 Comments November 15th, 2017 Another work pertaining to Thanksgiving, I chose this picture because of its thematic topics and because I Like cats...
I'm a fan of the background and how it's similar to the paintbrush background we did with photoshop a while back. It's a simple painting, but it's very straightforward which can be appreciated by some viewers. 11/13/2017 0 Comments November 13th, 2017 In the beginning of the year, I made a blog post describing this same painting. With the coming of Thanksgiving in America and this week's artist, I thought of doing another description of this piece.
As stated in the first post, this painting is made by Norman Rockwell and was featured in president Roosevelt's "Four Freedoms" speech during World War II. Each of the side subject's in the picture wears a variety of expressions, with the turkey serving as the object of focus. This painting truly depicts "American Life." 11/9/2017 0 Comments November 09th, 2017 This is another one of Ansel Adam's works. Looking at it, it's amazing how this is an actual photograph. There's a lack of color, but the context clues behind every detail give it the illusion. The composition is very well done, with each subject and object being clearly established.
11/6/2017 0 Comments November 06th, 2017 The artist of this week is more of a photographer, but is still noted for his aesthetics. His name is Ansel Adams. His photos are usually in a grayscale style and mainly depict Western America. If you were to compare his works to an amateur photographer, the differences are apparent. With Ansel's photos, you can clear depict the landscape it depicts, and its compositions. With this photo in particular, the way the trees are set up in the foregrounds really add to the aesthetic value this picture brings.
11/3/2017 0 Comments November 03rd, 2017 Introducing a new type of art, here we have text art. This is not the exact piece, but a similar works of this genre was able to win first place in the county fair, which is why I decided to commentate upon it.
Although simple to make, making text art is very time consuming. You need to arrange the words in a specific order, and use a variety of fonts to accurately portray the subject of the picture. |
