10/31/2017 0 Comments November 1, 2017 This week's artist is Ai WeiWei, a Chinese artist who's specialty lies in architecture. This is seen with the above picture, depicting the Chinese olympic stadium, which was originally designed by him. Ai WeiWei was also known for openly criticizing the Chinese government, which ended up in him getting beaten by officials, as seen with his self-portraits.

10/27/2017 0 Comments October 27th, 2017 With Halloween coming up, I decided to do a blog on a Halloween themed picture. I chose this one in particular because I like cute things...
If I were to point out anything specific with this artwork, I really like how the artist shaded the cat and the pumpkin to create a sort of glowing effect. It really emphasizes the main points, and it also gives it the illusion of something form a Disney movie. 10/27/2017 0 Comments October 27th, 2017 Thinking back on the different types of arts I've covered, here's a new, different type of art: fan art. Fan art involves recreating an existing work into your own art style, to but it simply. Out of all the art genres, this is one of my most favorite. This is because it takes a work that has a style that I've already seen and puts it in a different like. I enjoy seeing the many diverse perspectives on an already made work. It makes it more unique in my eyes.
10/25/2017 0 Comments October 25th, 2017 This piece was chosen in honor of my most favored hobby: music, specifically piano. I enjoyed the watercolor art style which blends in a mixture of diverse colors. It really sets the mood for a somber yet mysterious setting.
10/23/2017 0 Comments October 23rd, 2017 This painting was done by Grant Wood. What makes his works unique is that this was the only painting that he is renowned for. It is called the "American Gothic" which is a variation of Gothic art that originated from Europe from the medieval times.
In the painting, there is a large contrasting effect between the ages of the two subject of the piece. The color choice is, for the most part, dark and repetitive. 10/20/2017 0 Comments October 20th, 2017Lastly, here we have one other genre towards Freida Kahlo: Surrealism. Here, we have ordinary objects but it is portrayed to the point where it creates an illusory element to the painting.
10/20/2017 0 Comments October 19, 2017This is another example of magical realism. Here, we see the elements of the real world, the sunflower field, and the magical elements of the flower she is holding being used as a concurrent theme to the eclipse happening in the sky.
