8/31/2017 0 Comments August 31st, 2017 The painting here is reference to studio ghibli, a famous animation studio. The painting shown here represents my most favorite animated movies from them called "Kiki's Delivery Service." Here we see the main usage of a purple hue, with a white moon in the background. Here, we see the subject of the painting drawn in the middle, representing the main point of focus for the viewer.

8/30/2017 0 Comments August 30, 2017 This is a self- portrait of president John F. Kennedy, which is currently on display in the White House. I had the honor of seeing this picture in person (it is very difficult to get a tour of the White House). The portrait itself stays true to a sort of monotone type of color, which works really well to match the pose of the subject. In fact, due to the different colors utilized, the viewer's eye is drawn to the subject.
8/29/2017 0 Comments August 29th, 2017 Another famous artist worthy of mention is Vincent Van Gough as seen in his more noteworthy piece, "Starry Night." As you can see, there is an apparent blend of dark colors, with emphasis on blue hues in the background, along with light colors depicting stars, and a moon.
8/28/2017 0 Comments August 28th, 2017 This week's artist is Andy Warhol, who is well known for his pop art. Like this picture, he is also well known for creating the picture logo for Campbell's soup.
In pop art, it is well known for taking famous icons, such as celebrities, and altering the colors to make this sort of cartoonist illusion. 8/25/2017 0 Comments August 25th, 2017 Going back to the topic of abstract art, here we have another painting by Joan Miro. here, you can see the emphasis in lines (which is the focus of our unit currently). In my honest opinion, this multi- thousand dollar painting can most likely be done by a young child in art class, but that's just me, who has no artistic sense.
8/24/2017 0 Comments August 24th, 2017 Similar to the abstract art that we have been studying for the past few week, this form of art is known as splatter art. Where abstract art aims to portray a subject via shapes and lines, the end goal for splatter art is the same, only the artist quite literally "throws" paint onto the canvas to achieve the same effect.
8/23/2017 0 Comments August 23rd, 2017 This is the mascot of the famous diner "Ruby's" which opened in December 7, 1982. The reason why this photo is being represented today is because the logo represents a form of art: pop art, which grew in popularity around the 1960s. This form of artwork is highly apparent in the comic books that were sold in around that time.
8/21/2017 0 Comments August 21st, 2017 The artist of this week is named Juan Miro. Like many of the other previous artists mentioned, he is famous for his abstract art. His art is well known for being "surreal" and evoking "childlike" features. After observing the posted piece, it can be understood as to why his works stand out in this way.
8/17/2017 0 Comments August 17th, 2017 The artist of this week is Paul Maxwell, who deals mainly in abstract art. As you can see, there are a variety of colors, all in a similar spectrum. The piece in littered with rectangles that come together to produce a series of triangles.
